U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that Liberians covered by Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) can now apply for Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) valid through June 30, 2026. This follows President Biden’s June 2024 extension of DED for Liberians who have been continuously present in the U.S. since May 20, 2017.
Applying for an EAD
Eligible individuals can apply for a new EAD by submitting Form I-765. If you hold a DED-related EAD with an expiration date of March 2020, January 2021, June 2022, or June 2024, it is automatically extended until June 2026. Application fees and details are available on the USCIS website.
Travel Authorization
Liberians under DED can apply for travel authorization by filing Form I-131, though approval is discretionary.
Support for the Liberian Community
This extension offers continued protection from deportation and ensures access to legal employment.
Migration Resource Center can assist applicants in applying for the program, and we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible to do so.
