J-1 Visas (Exchange Visitor Program) Get New Name: “BridgeUSA”

In October 2020, the Department of State announced changes to its Bureau of Education and Culture Affairs (ECA). One announced change is a new brand, “BridgeUSA,” for the Exchange Visitor Program (EVP). This new brand has its own logo, tagline, and mission.

The goal of this new branding is to reimagine EVP in the private sector. Creating a professional brand more effectively communicates its mission, program values, and global impact to stakeholders and audiences.

Since the Fulbright-Hays Act in 1961, the EVP has been a valuable tool for United States foreign policy. Creating this program under the Department of State helped increase understanding between Americans and people of other countries worldwide. This remains vital to US national interests by building personal, people-to-people connections.

The global impact of the program is reflected in its creative tagline: Connecting global leaders, creating lasting impact. One of its missions is to build enduring bridges and friendships between people and nations. The tagline underscores the global impact; cultivating a network of leaders from countries around the world. BridgeUSA programs includes Short-Term Scholars; Interns; Trainees; College and University Students; Teachers; Au Pairs; Camp Counselors; Summer Work Travelers, and Industry Specialists.
